Sacred Spaces: Romania & Bulgaria

Retired surgeon and ardent traveller, Alberti has taken his powers of observation around the world. He toured parts of Romania and Bulgaria to take photographs of important places, mainly places of worship and fortresses, and was amazed at the variety: Lutheran fortified Churches, Painted Monasteries and Orthodox Churches in Romania; Orthodox monasteries, in caves and freestanding, Orthodox Churches and Cathedrals, as well as Mosques and Synagogues in Bulgaria. They were colourful and moving, simple and grand, reflecting the changing fates of society over the ages, Roman, Bulgarian, Ottoman and Russian.

All proceeds go to Médecins Sans Frontières and House of Compassion.
